THE CÂM THANH MANGROVE

A 15-minute cycle ride from La Maison d’Indochine, the mangrove of Câm Thanh offers itself to the nature-loving walker. Populated by water coconut trees, which are farmed by the villagers, this mangrove has developed since its origins as a trading area with the Mekong delta. Like any stretch of tranquil water, it’s a delight to contemplate aquatic life, with dragonflies, shellfish and fishermen at the mouth. Between the canals criss-crossing the tropical vegetation and the open sea dotted with carrelets and lake huts, the landscape unfurls its stretches of tranquil water.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

  • LEAVE Maison d’Indochine at 6.30 am or 5 pm
  • TAKE THE ROADS through the rice fields of Tra Qué to admire the rural scenes and avoid the main road.
  • RESERVE a boat trip for 7 a.m. or 5.30 p.m. for an almost solitary aquatic stroll.
  • END THE WALK with a local breakfast or traditional BBQ
